Temple Preschool currently has seven classrooms, from infants at six weeks through five year olds in pre-K. Each room's class size and teacher ratios are based on the age of the children and the actual square footage of the classroom, to the highest standards of DHS and NAEYC regulations. This year, we have one infant room with eight children and two teachers, a young toddler room with 10 children and three teachers, two older toddler rooms with 12 children and three teachers, two preschool rooms with 12 children and two teachers, and our largest room has 20 pre-K 'ers with two teachers.
Registration can occur at any time as spaces occasionally open throughout the year. However, our main registration event begins in late December/early January for the following fall (August). We first meet the needs of our current parents, and then look to the wait list for Temple members and others in the Jewish community in that order. To get on the wait list, a parent must schedule an interview and tour, which takes about an hour. If they are seeking a wait list slot, there is a non-refundable $75 registration fee. This fee puts their child's name on the wait list indefinitely, but doesn't guarantee a spot.
Once there is an opening available and that parent is called, they may choose to wait or take the spot at that time. If they choose to wait, their name will not be removed to the bottom, it will simply be passed over to the next person on the list. If they choose to take advantage of that opening, we will require a deposit to hold it for up to two weeks, or they can begin immediately. All fees will be due at that time, plus the first month's tuition.
Tuition fees are based on the child's age/classroom, Temple membership status (or not), and enrollment schedule. We offer four choices for enrollment scheduling from part-time to full time. No refunds or prorated amounts occur due to school closings, or child illness/vacation. Parents are billed monthly and that price is consistent for one school year, unless a change is made in their child's schedule. Withdrawal from the program requires a month's notice in writing.
